comedy show.

we had been promoting this comedy show with comedian Dennis Gaxiola since school started. We handed out like 2500 flyers, wrote the deets on the chalkboards of lecture halls (at 6:30am before classes started!), and invited tons of people. The room we had reserved for the event could fit about 260 students.

when I got there friday night to help set up, i was so nervous that no one would come.

what a week!

This week we invited 5,000 students via flyers to attend our events. 400 of those people gave us their contact info and even more showed up- what a week!

I want to write about everything we did- it all went SO great- but I think you’ll get a good snapshot of the week with the story of our Friday Night Lights party. To start….I attended the party dressed as a cow……

call to prayer.

this past sunday&monday, we had the honor of hosting some national prayer leaders from around the country. they are visiting universities all up and down the coast of california to cast vision for prayer on campus & they’re calling it The Purple Pig tour.

a few weeks ago, a solomn assembly was held on the steps of the captial building in sacramento called The Call. It was 12 hours of praying and fasting that california&the rest of the nation would turn it’s heart towards God. my sisters and i attended and were heavily impacted. The leaders of this event have been praying for our nation for years.

[one quick story from that event- shortly after spending time praying for sex trafficing, we recieved an anncouncement that Craigslist had decided to shut down it’s “adult services” section so that it could no longer be used as one of the easiest ways to exploit those in sexual slavery.]

anyway- the leaders from that event came to UCDavis to pray&cast vision for 24/7 prayer on campus. they are calling it The Purple Pig tour after a book called The Purple Pig & Other Miracles.  I think this video does an excellent job of recapping the day. check it out here:

[you can see me in the background a bit when will is sharing. :)]

reflecting on the event- all i can say is that Jesus is ripping my heart to shreads for college students. As they shared a statistic that only 4% of my generation follows Jesus- I just began to weep.

That is not ok. We can’t rest until we tell the 96%. It can happen.

Through prayer, fasting, and mission- it can happen. Thank you JESUS that you allow me to have a small part.

chialphaversary.

yesterday was my 5 year chialphaversary.

5 years since I attended my first chi alpha service.

5 years since i prayed  a simple prayer on palm walk

“God, please don’t let this be awkward….”

the 1st person I met was angela who has poured out

5 years of wisdom, patience, grace, and love on me.

that 1st night that i met carly- singing with her red, white, and blue backpack on.

5 years since our fusion group met in Hayden West & pulled pranks & spent all of our time together.

oh and learned how to have “real” conversations and not give sunday school answers.

shawn or candi could barely look at me and i would start crying.

they were asking me questions that id never been asked before & saw to my potential that i couldn’t see.

I guess in 5 years has not changed much in that regard.

It has been 5 years of healing, encouragement, correction, refinement, challenge, and love.

so overwhelmed, so thankful, and so blessed that His 5 year plan

has taken me on an adventure far greater than i ever could have ever planned for myself.

this is why

i hand out flyers & invite people to our events & stay up until all hours having taco fiestas.

because how could I not

give someone the opportunity to have

5 years, too.
