global impact from ucdavis

“A research team from University of California Davis and Peking University in China has discovered a reason why high dosages of the arthritis pain medication Vioxx led to heart attacks and strokes in some patients.

Using a method to profile rodent blood, scientists discovered that Vioxx causes a dramatic increase in a bio-marker that could be a major contributor of heart attacks and strokes.

The discovery may pave the way for a safer drug for millions of arthritis patients who suffer acute and chronic pain.”

-The Sacramento Business Journal.

University students have access to global opportunities that will have global impact. Let’s pray that they wouldn’t just research medicine to heal hearts, but that they would also be the ones to “bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom to the captives, and release from darkness the prisioners.” (Isaiah 61:1)
